H&M unveiled Sabyasachi Mukherjee as its first-ever Indian designer collaboration last year but then came the pandemic. Over a year later, as our desire to escape reaches its pinnacle, this collaboration is finally available in stores.

“When H&M asked what I wanted to do, I told them that in my mind and heart I’m a traveller, and I want to create a travel wardrobe. So I wondered how a collection could flow from a palace in Jaipur to a pool party in Los Angeles,” the designer explained.

It’s an understatement to say that India’s leading fashion brand’s visual world is vibrant. Sabyasachi Mukherjee is known for his colourful and eclectic designs, as well as the handcrafted beauty that goes into them. You won’t be disappointed if you’re familiar with Sabyasachi’s lavish Indian bridal dresses, which have been worn by Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, and Anushka Sharma. The Sabyasachi x H&M collection, inspired by India’s rich textile history, combines modern and traditional shapes with a hint to athleisure and glamping. The Sabyasachi Art Foundation, which meticulously crafts Indian textiles and prints, will be a prominent focus of this collection.

“Having done couture for the majority of my career, it is very exciting to bring that finesse of craft to ‘ready-to-wear’ and create whimsical and fluid silhouettes that bring relaxed sophistication to everyday life,”

says Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

“At H&M, we are thrilled to announce our collaboration with iconic designer Sabyasachi, known for his dynamic use of indigenous crafts and textiles — a language so stunning that it permanently altered the fashion and design landscape of the country,”

says Ella Soccorsi, Concept Designer at Collaborations & Special Collections, H&M.

The Sabyasachi x H&M collection will be accessible on Myntra.com, in select stores, and globally online, and will include a complete wardrobe for both women and men, including accessories.
